Wine of the Day, No. 851

A bargain red from Portugal.

I’ll be the first to admit that the post a few days ago, titled “10 Big Reds,” came with a bit of stocker shock. To offer recompense, I propose today the Esporão Monte Velho Reserva 2022, from Portugal’s Alentejano region. This is a 25%-each blend of red grapes: aragonez, trincadeira, syrah and touriga nacional, aged eight months in used oak barrels.
