Five excellent examples.
The full name of the gamay grape is gamay noir à jus blanc. It is convenient to shorten it to gamay or gamay noir. It’s most famous and important as the grape of Beaujolais, at all levels, and is grown around the city of Tours, in the Loire Valley, mostly for blending; in Canada’s Niagara Peninsula; and increasingly in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Today, we look at five examples from Willamette.
