Whether you’ve been reading my writing about wine for almost 40 years or 40 minutes, you recognize that I prefer an expanded version of what’s called the “wine note.” This artifice — as all writing is artifice — is designed to give readers a detailed, even a panoramic view of what the wine is like in order to determine if it conforms to their tastes and sensibilities. In other words, do they want to buy it or not.
