The principle behind Weekend Wine Notes is to offer quick reviews of wine with less emphasis on technical, geographical and personal details than in the “regular” reviews. Mentions torn, as it were, from the pages of my notebooks. It’s true that I occasionally wax more broadly about the wines, but the idea is to pique your interest and whet your palate. Seven-League Boots would be required to connect all these wine regions in one journey — Austria; France in general and Beaujolais in particular; Yolo County in the Sacramento Valley and Russian River Valley in Sonoma County; Washington state’s Yakima Valley; Australia’s Margaret River region; Uruguay; and Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley. Equally diverse are the grapes involved. Enjoy! In moderation, of course.
