A dozen white wines, some quite unique. One from California (Paso Robles) and one from New York (Finger Lakes), but the majority originate in Europe: France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Slovenia. Every one of these wines would be appropriate for Spring and Summer imbibing, while some are savory enough to go through all the seasons. As usual in these Weekend Wine Nores, I dispense with technical, geographical, historical and biographical information to offer brief reviews, ripped, as it were, from the pages of my notebooks. With the exception of one wine, these were tasted, among many others, as samples from local distributors at The Beauty Shop, the restaurant in Memphis for which I consult on the wine list. A few of these might end up on that list, but I’m not revealing anything yet.
