The website for Tatomer Wines is excessively shy at revealing information about owner/winemaker Graham Tatomer or his wines — primarily riesling and grüner veltliner, appropriate varieties for a man who studied and worked in Austria. There’s also a bit of pinot noir. The link among these grape varieties is that they thrive in cool climate zones, a factor that Tatomer takes seriously in finding Central Coast vineyards and farmers sympathetic to his aim of producing scintillating, acid-driven wines. These vineyards occur in breezy pockets of Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo County and up to Monterey County’s Santa Lucia Highlands. Tatomer makes regional wines and single-vineyard wines.
