Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, tiny Stinson Vineyards is operated by father and daughter Scott Stinson and Rachel Stinson Vrooman and Rachel’s husband Nathan Vrooman. Production is small, the use of oak barrels is strictly and thoughtfully limited, farming is meticulous. The estate centers on a house built in 1796 and expanded in 1840. The winery itself is located in a converted three-car garage. (There’s an inn for visitors.) Everything is pretty darned hands-on. I always look forward to Stinson's rosé wines, which are notable for their Provençal-style delicacy and elegance, but also their whole roster.
