New Releases from Pisoni Vineyards: the 2022s
Intense and concentrated chardonnays and pinot noirs.
Jeff Pisoni and his family own about 40 acres of prime vineyard acreage in Monterey County’s Santa Lucia Highlands AVA. The family’s involvement in farming in the Salinas Valley goes back to 1952, with Jane and Eddie Pisoni. Their son, Gary, was a pioneer planting grapes on the east-facing slopes of the rocky Santa Lucia range, in 1982, but his meticulous, even obsessive approach to farming and making wine produced great results — some of the best chardonnay, pinot noir and syrah made in California. Gary’s sons Jeff (winemaker, see image below) and Mark (vineyardist) carry on that tradition. Only native yeasts are utilized; oak treatment is carefully balanced.
