It's Always Good to Learn about Different Grapes
Take a bow, Cesanese di Affile.
Sometimes, these things occur by happenstance. I was in a nearby retail store, looking for a wine to drink during the upcoming Pizza-and-Movie Night, when my eyes came across a little sign, affixed to a shelf, that said “NEW.” The wine thus indicated was the one pictured here, the Pileum Cesanese del Piglio 2022, from Italy’s Lazio region that surrounds Rome, running along the coasts and inland. The DOCG*, awarded in 2008, is Cesanese del Piglio; the grape is Cesanese di Affile. Both the place and the grape were new to me.
