The full name of the gamay grape, its official moniker, so to speak, is gamay noir à jus blanc, so we’ll just go with gamay. As many of you know, gamay is the only red grape — or ‘black grape” — allowed is the red wines of Beaujolais, from the most common level to the 10 designated commune wines at the top.
