National Red Wine Day was created in 2014 by Jace Shoemaker-Galloway, a prolific children’s book author, animal-care advocate and holiday writer. She has created 26 “national holidays,” including Prevent Plagiarism Day (Feb. 19), Keep Off the Grass Day (April 21), Silly Sayings Day (Oct. 13), Green Bean Casserole Day (Dec. 3), and, naturally, White Wine Day (Aug. 4).
